December News

We all took time to remember at our school wide Remembrance Day ceremony. Thank you to Ms. Warson, the Remembrance Day Committee as well as the classes and students who participated in special performances or who were candle bearers.

Once again this year Mme Warburton has organized SAB’s participation in the ‘Tis The Season’ Art Show at the Assembly Hall. Please drop by to admire the 10 amazing entries produced by our students – the show runs until December 16th.

Student-led conferences were a big success. Thank you to the parents/guardians of all our students who participated by attending with their child. We look forward to helping our students become more independent learners and confident communicators as they develop an awareness of their own strengths and needs while planning next steps for their learning with their caring adults.

The month ended with our Winter Bazaar. Thank you to the School Council organizing committee and the countless volunteers that supported the event this past Saturday. It was a huge success that brought the community together in the spirit of the upcoming holidays.

Reminder to our families that our Gr 1-5 instructional day ends at 3:35 PM. With the cooling temperatures and additional winter gear we thank you for your patience as your child may arrive at their dismissal door between 3:35 – 3:45. Teachers work hard to streamline the end of the day transition with their daycare, bussed and walker student drop offs. Student supervision and safety is our primary focus. A reminder to parents wanting to pick up their child from the bus line - our bussed students are tracked through a separate daily bussing attendance. If you need to pick your child up before he/she boards the bus, notifying the office is necessary before doing so. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.

Did you know SAB is celebrating its 100th Anniversary next year? We will be holding our first Centennial Committee meeting prior to the next Council meeting – Monday December 9, 2019 at 5 PM in our staffroom. Please join us if you are interested in participating.

On behalf of all the staff at SAB – we would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and safe winter break.

Happy Holidays,

M. Kanalec
